Message from P. Doug Small

P. Douglas Small is President and Founder of Alive Ministries: Project Pray. The ministry began as an outreach to churches and evolved to reach across denominational lines and touch whole cities. He continues that outreach through Schools of Prayer, pastors and wives events, conferences, mission outreaches, and prayer leadership training. In addition to Alive Ministries activities, Doug currently serves as the International Liaison for Prayer Ministries out of the office of the General Overseer of the Church of God. He is an Ordained Bishop with the Church of God, Cleveland, TN. Prior to his conference ministry, Doug served as a pastor for more than 15 years.

In addition to his speaking ministry, Doug is featured on a number of DVD and CD series. He is the author of several new books, including “Prayer – the Heartbeat of the Church”, a series currently being used in thousands of churches in America and around the world.

Doug holds two MA Degrees. He also served as an administrator and faculty member of three accredited Christian Colleges. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Good News Christian School, Fresno CA; a member of the Salinas Public School District Curriculum Review Committee; and the Coordinating Faculty Member of the Bay Area Korean Extension of West Coast Christian College.

He created Project Pray SE USA as a collaborative effort with International Renewal Ministries, an outreach of Multnomah Seminary (Portland, OR). He served as a facilitator for city-wide gatherings of pastors in connection with this movement for more than ten years.

Doug was a managing associate with Carlson Learning Center, one of the largest producers of relational analysis instruments for effectiveness assessment and consultant work, (Biblical Profile, Couple’s Profile, Time Management, Job Factor Analysis, Interpersonal Profile, Values Profile, Personal Relating Style Software). He served as the Trainer for Psychological Publications, Inc. out of Los Angeles with a specialty in the Taylor Johnson Temperament Analysis. He also trained in the use of the MMPI, the CPI, Myers-Briggs, and the Couple’s Communication Profile. He was also a Workshop Leader at the International Congress on Christian Counseling sponsored by the American Association of Christian Counselors.

In his work with his denomination, Doug was a member of the Advisory Committee to the Department of Ministerial Care, a member of the State Board of Youth and Christian Education in North and South Dakota and California. He was Chair on Evangelism at Educational Institutions, Chairman of the State Board of Education, Northern California and Director of Ministerial Internship, District Overseer in Monterey Peninsula for the Church of God, a member of the West Coast Christian College President’s Council, and a member of the Evangelism Task Force for Los Angeles. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Holmes Theological Seminary. And the field director for Cry Out America in connection with the Center for Spiritual Renewal.

Doug and his wife and partner Barbara have been married for more than 40 years. They have five children and 13 grandchildren. They currently live in North Carolina.
